When Is Jayden Reed Coming Back? Injury Update and Fantasy Football Outlook (Week 3)

Jayden Reed - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL DFS Lineup Picks

Is Jayden Reed out for the season? When is Jayden Reed coming back? The latest Jayden Reed injury update and fantasy football outlook heading into Week 3 of 2025.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed (foot/clavicle), after playing through a foot injury to start the 2025 season, was knocked out of his Week 2 contest after making a deep catch against the Washington Commanders.

Reed's latest campaign saw him catch three of his five targets for 45 yards in Week 1, playing on just 38 percent of his team's offensive snaps before he failed to record any stats in his subsequent contest. Now, he's slated to miss at least some time.

Reed's role was disappointingly reduced in his offense in 2024 compared to 2023. Reed operated virtually solely as a slot receiver, and that limited his ability to run more routes and subsequently earn more targets. But is he now set to miss the entire 2025 season?

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Is Jayden Reed Out for the 2025 Season?

Reed broke his clavicle on a catch attempt deep downfield after he was tackled by a defender in Week 2. Reed landed hard on his shoulder with enough force to cause the fracture. This isn't an injury that will heal overnight. He underwent surgery to address this issue, as well as the Jones fracture in his foot.

The third-year pro isn't expected to miss the entire season, though. He should return at some point. It's unclear exactly how much time it will take, but a conservative estimate of when he will come back is around eight weeks. If he comes back just a bit sooner, it wouldn't be surprising.

Luckily for Reed managers, when he does return, he'll be healed from his foot fracture, given that it was surgically addressed. That likely would have held back his production had he not broken his clavicle and continued to play through it.

Jayden Reed 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook

The biggest barrier to Reed's production is Green Bay's incredibly diffuse passing attack, which consistently gets all its pass-catchers involved as much as possible. Reed's lack of blocking ability also keeps him off the field in 2WR sets, severely limiting his overall snaps, routes, and the resulting opportunities he gets.

Reed's ability to be fantasy relevant is thus heavily dependent on touchdown luck, which is a difficult thing to predict. It would benefit his fantasy value if other pass-catchers were to get hurt, but there will be more target competition this year than there was last season.

WR Christian Watson (knee) could return to play around the same time as Reed does, if not earlier. And rookie first-round pick WR Matthew Golden will be worked heavily into the rotation as well. The Packers have also clearly shown they want to keep WRs Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks and tight end Tucker Kraft (rightfully so in his case) very involved in the passing offense.

And Green Bay has what appears to be one of the league's best defenses, bolstered massively by the arrival of elite linebacker Micah Parsons. Parsons' ability to create pressure and command major attention from opposing offensive lines is a huge disruptor to opposing offenses' game plans.

The Packers might have quite a few games in which they don't have to pass the ball heavily and can still come out with wins, relying heavily on their defense and running back Josh Jacobs, who's playing great football. Reed's fantasy value thus is that of a WR4 with a very low floor and not a very high ceiling when he returns.
