On Saturday, former Rizin bantamweight champion Kai Asakura suffered a second-round submission loss to UFC veteran Tim Elliott on the UFC 319 main card opener. Asakura dominated the opening round with his striking, but Elliott landed a takedown and controlled Asakura until the round ended. In the second round, Asakura looked tentative. With a minute to go in the second round, Elliott took Asakura down, sank in the guillotine choke and forced Asakura to tap. In 9:39 of action, Asakura landed 21 significant strikes. Asakura is now 0-2 in the UFC.--Alen Kurbasic
