Alec Burleson Fouls Pitch Off Knee, Leaves Early on Monday
St. Louis Cardinals left fielder Alec Burleson (knee) was removed from Monday's game early at Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies after fouling a pitch off his right knee in the seventh inning, John Denton of MLB.com reports. Burleson looked to be in a lot of pain as he limped to the dugout. He was replaced in left field by Garrett Hampson. Before leaving, Burleson was 0-for-4 at the plate with two strikeouts, so it was a pretty bad day all around. The Cardinals will most likely send him for X-rays, and we should know later on Monday or early Tuesday whether the 26-year-old is dealing with a serious injury. Losing the former second-rounder for a long stretch of time would be a big blow for St. Louis and fantasy managers as Burleson has been solid this year with a .293/.340/.470 slash line, .810 OPS, 12 homers, 44 RBI and 32 runs in 300 at-bats.
