The year's final major at Royal Portrush has had all the makings of an Open Championship. Wind, rain, and unpredictability have been around every corner, and going into the final round, Scottie Scheffler finds himself with a four-shot lead. The best player in the game is looking to get one step closer to completing the career grand slam and winning a second major title this season.

The success through the first three rounds has been mainly focused on iron play and putting, with four of the top seven on the leaderboard ranking inside the top 10 in strokes gained on approach and putting. Even if the approach metrics don't translate, hitting greens is the common denominator among almost everyone near the lead. With conditions slated to be getable and Scheffler leading by four, it's going to take a sizable push to catch him tomorrow.

Showdown, unlike typical golf DFS that spans the entire tournament, is a contest that focuses on each round as an individual event. Finding players performing well on approach is a good general rule. However, roster decisions that give you ownership leverage by taking riskier players who haven't played their best but present a high likelihood of a bounce-back round are also important. In other words, this is a sprint, not a marathon.

Round 4 Strategy

The mindset for final-round showdowns is not to pull any punches. A great starting point is to take guys who have a knack for hammering down the gas pedal on Sunday and have at least shown flashes of form over the first three rounds.

Remember that ownership levels will continuously drop the closer you get to the morning's first tee time, so finding the guys who will bounce back is paramount to winning big.

Favorite Play: Tyrell Hatton has been as intriguing as always through the first three rounds of this 153rd Open Championship. The LIV star ranks second in the field in greens in regulation (79.6%) and third in strokes gained ball striking (+2.92). He's turned in three straight rounds in the 60s, and tomorrow shouldn't be much different.

Other Options: Rory McIlroy

Favorite Play: Xander Schauffele is making a strong push over the last two rounds, but mainly, a third-round 66 that included two eagles has positioned him in solo eighth. He ranked second on the day in greens in regulation (88.9%) and seventh in strokes gained tee to green (+2.93). With optimal scoring conditions likely for the final day, look for Schauffele to be as much of a force as anyone else.

Other Options: Ludvig Aberg

Favorite Play: Other than the slow start on Thursday, Harry Hall has been as strong as anyone at converting on birdie opportunities. The putter has been most to thank, but the Englishman did gain +1.69 strokes on approach in round three while ranking second for the event in strokes gained putting (+2.08). If both of them remain effective tomorrow, he could be a fun addition to watch in the final round.

Favorite Play: Chris Gotterup is doing much of the same that led to his victory in Scotland a week ago: hitting long drives and finding the hole with the flat stick. Through three rounds, he ranks fourth in strokes gained off the tee (+1.57) and sixth in strokes gained putting (+1.61). Tomorrow's circumstances are more crucial in the historical context, but going toe-to-toe with McIlroy has prepared him to face an even greater challenge tomorrow.

Favorite Play: Matt Wallace had a strong third round, posting a -5 under, 66. The Englishman ranked third on the day in strokes gained on approach (+2.85) and strokes gained tee to green (+3.91). He also ranks third on the week with his irons at +5.26 strokes gained over the first three days.

Putting has been slightly disappointing given his overall competency throughout the season; however, it hasn't stopped him from making double-digit birdies. For a basement bargain pick, he isn't a bad way to lean.
