Lukas Dostal Signs Five-Year Extension with Ducks
Anaheim Ducks goaltender Lukas Dostal has signed a five-year, $32.5 million contract extension. The 25-year-old Czech native was a restricted free agent and avoided an arbitration hearing. Dostal posted a 23-23-7 record last season, allowing 3.10 goals with a .903 save percentage and one shutout. With John Gibson now in Detroit, the Ducks see Dostal as their undisputed No. 1 between the pipes. "Lukas has proven he is a No. 1 goaltender and we are so pleased to get this deal done," Ducks general manager Pat Verbeek said. "He is just entering the prime of his career with his best hockey ahead of him." Anaheim is hoping to get back into playoff contention next season, and with a stronger team supporting him, Dostal will have more fantasy appeal.
