Brian Branch 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook: Versatility Equals Production
Despite an injury that cost Branch a Week 4 appearance and limited him in two others, he still scored the second-most total fantasy points in Standard IDP Scoring of any DB last year. Despite seeing limited snaps in several games, he also finished second at the position in fantasy points per game. A significant reason for this increase in production is the way Branch was utilized. He split time evenly at free safety, slot corner, and box safety. This mix of roles allowed Branch to remain heavily involved in the Lions' defensive game plan, regardless of game script or situation. When opponents went run-heavy, Branch could take advantage in the box. When opponents had to throw to catch up with Detroit's prolific offense, Branch tipped passes and created turnovers from a variety of spots. While the exodus of Aaron Glenn as defensive coordinator could impact Branch's usage, Detroit's new defensive coordinator, who came up under Glenn, should offer consistency rather than turmoil. Therefore, Branch remains one of the most prolific defensive backs in fantasy and the top DB not named Travis Hunter on many boards.
