Kodai Senga Injury Update For Fantasy Baseball

New York Mets starting pitcher Kodai Senga has been one of the most dominant pitchers in the sport over the first two months. Entering Thursday's start, the right-hander carried a stellar 1.59 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP across his first 68 innings of work. During this stretch, Senga struck out 65 batters and allowed 30 walks. He allowed just four home runs.

However, in his most recent outing on Thursday, Senga exited the game early with an apparent leg injury. Senga went to cover first base and attempted to catch a high throw but fell to the ground in pain.

While he was able to walk off on his own power, this injury did appear to be significant. Before exiting, Senga picked up his seventh win of the campaign as he tossed 5 2/3 innings of one-hit ball with one walk and five punchouts.

After the game, manager Carlos Mendoza noted that while the severity of the hamstring strain was not known, they were expecting to play their ace on the injured list.

On Friday morning, the Mets officially placed the right-hander on the 15-day IL. In a corresponding move, the Mets promoted right-handed pitcher Max Kranick from Triple-A Syracuse.

Given the timeline, Senga will remain sidelined through at least the end of the month, with the potential for a longer period. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status while he slowly progresses through his recovery plan.

While he remains sidelined, the Mets will likely have a five-man rotation including Clay Holmes, Griffin Canning, David Peterson, Tylor Megill, and Paul Blackburn. However, left-hander Sean Manaea (oblique) has begun his rehab assignment and could return early in July.

For the time being, Senga should be viewed as a multi-stash candidate in all leagues while on the injured list.

Jacob Misiorowski Injury Update For Fantasy Baseball

Prior to their game on Thursday evening against the St. Louis Cardinals, the Milwaukee Brewers promoted their top pitching prospect, Jacob Misiorowski, to make his MLB debut. The hard-throwing right-hander was sharp in this start, tossing five no-hit innings with five punchouts and four walks.

However, Misiorowski had his no-hitter cut short when he suffered an ankle injury at the top of the sixth inning.

Misirowski turned his right ankle after a pitch in the sixth and got a visit from the athletic trainer and Chris Hook and is coming out of the game.

After the start, the team announced that the right-hander exited due to straining his right calf and quadriceps.

In addition, after the game, the former second-round pick spoke to the media and emphasized that he was fine. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status over the next few days in case he faces a setback, but he should not face any restrictions in his next start.

On Friday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com noted that Misiorowski was dealing with minor swelling in his left ankle and is expected to make his next start.

In addition, earlier on Friday, the Brewers traded right-hander Adrian Houser to the Chicago White Sox, which further suggests that Misiorowski will have a permanent spot on the MLB roster. Brandon Woodruff (ankle) was recently shifted to the 60-day IL and has been shut down from his rehab assignment since being struck by a comebacker.

In addition, Netsor Cortes Jr. (elbow) is also on the 60-day injured list and has only recently begun completing bullpen sessions and still has a lengthy road ahead of him.

As a result, fantasy managers should be targeting Misiorowski on the waiver wire this weekend with confidence as he should remain locked into the rotation for the time being.

Earlier this season, the Crowder College product was one of the top pitchers at the Triple-A level. Over his last 44 2/3 innings before earning the call, the right-hander posted a stellar 1.81 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP. During this stretch, Misiorowski struck out 59 batters while allowing just 19 walks.

Given his elite strikeout upside, he is a must-add in all formats.

Spencer Arrighetti Injury Update For Fantasy Baseball

The final pitcher we will analyze in this piece is Houston right-hander Spencer Arrighetti. Arrighetti has been sidelined since early April with a fractured right thumb. Arrighetti suffered this injury when playing catch in the outfield.

Before the injury, he made two starts. In his first outing, he looked quite impressive, tossing six innings of one-run ball with five strikeouts against the Mets. However, in his second outing, Arrighetti allowed five runs across 3 2/3 innings of work against the Twins.

On May 28, Arrighetti was able to take the first step in his recovery as he began playing catch.

Then on June 8, the 25-year-old was able to pay catch again, this time from 70 feet. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progress as the Astros will likely be increasing his workload over the next few weeks.

If he remains on schedule, he could potentially return to the bump sometime in July.

The former sixth-round pick was a popular breakout selection during the draft season as he flashed high strikeout upside during his first taste of the majors last season. After the All-Star Game, Arrighetti was very effective, posting a 3.18 ERA with a 1.17 WHIP across his final 65 innings of work. During this stretch, the right-hander struck out 78 batters and allowed 21 walks.

While he remains out of action, Colton Gordon, Ryan Gusto, and Brandon Walter should remain at the back of the rotation. However, it is yet to be seen who would shift to a long relief role or back to Triple-A when Arrighetti returns.

Given his still unclear timeline, he is only worth stashing in 12+ team formats.
