DeVonta Smith 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook: Remains Volatile WR2/WR3
DeVonta Smith notched consecutive 1,000-yard seasons in 2022 and 2023 before posting just 833 receiving yards in 2024, thanks to four missed games. The former Heisman Trophy winner could be one of the better wide receivers in the NFL, but his production doesn't suggest it. Unfortunately for Smith, he is in a crowded offense featuring A.J. Brown, Dallas Goedert, and Saquon Barkley, and the Eagles attempted the fewest passes per game in the league last season (25.7). Put simply, the Eagles are dominant along the offensive line and in the running game, and the Philly defense keeps the team out of shootouts often. He is unlikely to command the volume needed to post legitimate WR1 numbers, which is why he carries a boom-or-bust outlook into most matchups. The Slim Reaper delivered five top-14 half-PPR finishes a season ago, but failed to score double-digit fantasy points on four occasions. Smith has upside in most games, but his floor remains low due to his situation. He's a classic "better in best ball" fantasy option, but he's worth snagging in traditional leagues if he falls well into the WR3/WR4 range of drafts.
