New York Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov (lower body) has been ruled out indefinitely. He hasn't seen any action since Nov. 28 due to a lower-body injury, and apparently Varlamov isn't close to returning. The veteran netminder has posted a 3-4-3 record for 2024-25, allowing 2.89 goals with a .889 save percentage. The Islanders are also currently without Marcus Hogberg (upper body), meaning Jakub Skarek provides backup for Ilya Sorokin. Despite receiving an increased workload due to Varlamov's injury, Sorokin has heated up with five consecutive wins. He will look to extend his winning run on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Sorokin hasn't won six appearances in a row since March 2021.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
