While most fantasy football articles, shows, podcasts, and magazines talk about the early-round players, leagues are won in the later rounds. Fantasy players must find league-winning players in the double-digit rounds, especially at the running back position.

Fantasy players want their late-round running back draft picks to either be an injury away from the starting role or play for an explosive offense, where they only need a few touches to become fantasy-relevant. Kendre Miller could have a featured role if Alvin Kamara misses time with an injury. Meanwhile, Jaylen Wright is an explosive running back playing on arguably the most dangerous offense in the NFL.

Jaylen Wright 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Wright had an impressive 2023 season, totaling 137 rushing attempts for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns. Furthermore, he ended his college career with nearly 2,300 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns while averaging 6.2 yards per rushing attempt.

The rookie running back has flashed upside during practice. More importantly, Wright is dangerous in the open field, capable of taking any touch to the house. The Miami Dolphins loved the former Tennessee star so much that they traded away a future third-round pick to draft him.

Kendre Miller 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Many had high hopes for Miller last year. Some thought he could earn a consistent role on offense, with Kamara missing the first three games. However, the former TCU star had an awful rookie year, missing nine games because of injuries. He had only 41 rushing attempts for 156 yards and a touchdown in 2023.

However, fantasy players believe Miller could turn things around this year. The young running back is healthy and has limited competition for touches in the backfield other than Kamara. He had 13 rushing attempts for 73 yards and a score in the Week 18 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Kamara missed that game because of an injury, giving Miller a chance to shine.

Who Should I Draft?

Both running backs are late-round picks with upside. However, I would draft Wright before Miller for two reasons. For one, he plays on the far better offense. The Dolphins had one of the top rushing attacks in the NFL in 2023. Furthermore, Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane have struggled to stay healthy in their careers. Wright could find himself in the lead role on an elite offense as a rookie.
