ANALYSIS: Texas Rangers starting pitching prospect Jack Leiter made his major league debut earlier this season but was recently sent back down to the minor leagues to continue his development.
Through his first three major league starts (9.1 innings) the 24-year-old posted a poor 16.39 ERA and 2.57 WHIP with a 7:6 K:BB ratio. Due to this performance, the Rangers believe that their No. 6 overall prospect is not yet ready for the major leagues.

However, in Triple-A this season, the former No. 2 overall pick has posted a strong 2.84 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and 37:8 K:BB ratio through 25.1 innings. This is a significant improvement compared to his 5.07 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and 110:47 K:BB ratio he posted last season through 81.2 innings at Double-A.
If the former Vanderbilt Commodore continues to dominate Triple-A bats, he will get another chance in the major leagues this summer. However, if he cannot figure it out after that, he may have to wait until next season.
