Ezekiel Elliott's fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 18 (2023). Should you should start or sit Ezekiel Elliott for fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Start in 10-Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB2
ANALYSIS: With Rhamondre Stevenson on the Injured Reserve, the New England Patriots have turned to former Dallas Cowboys star Ezekiel Elliott as the team's lead running back over the past four games. That will continue on Sunday when the Patriots take on the New York Jets.
Elliott's had some flashes this year, but it's clear he's no longer the guy who led the NFL in rushing yards per game in each of his first three seasons. In four games as New England's starter at the position this year, Elliott is averaging 14.8 carries for 39.8 rushing yards per game, as well as 5.5 receptions for 33 yards. He's gone over 39 yards just once in that span actually, with 22 carries for 69 yards against the Steelers on Dec. 7.
Those aren't great numbers, but a Week 18 meeting with a New York Jets defense that allows the ninth-most rushing yards in the league could be a good spot for Elliott. New York's strong suit is stopping the run, whereas New England's big weakness is throwing the ball. We're likely to see a lot of Zeke on Sunday, with his projected volume giving him low-end RB2 value despite his struggles so far this season.
