Early-Week Fantasy Basketball Category Streamers for Week 3

NBA fantasy baseball streamers waiver wire pickups

Lance Roberson looks at some early-week waiver wire options for fantasy basketball leagues. These players may be free agents to target on waivers in Week 3.

After an interesting start, it's week three of the 2023-2024 NBA season. Following the James Harden trade, role players on a few teams will see the light of day upon the one-time MVP's departure from Philadelphia. Learn from Daryl Morey; don't get too attached to your players. You may feel confident about your draft decisions, but remember: stars are born and eroded every day. Take a moment to see what's on the other side of the waiver wire.

Remember, there are no games on November 7, as it's election day. Most leagues limit how many players you can stream each week in daily leagues. If your league only allows three moves per week, you need to be very efficient with your moves and grab players who will help you maximize your games played and help you win an extra category or two of counting stats.

The goal of this article each Monday morning will be to help you plan your roster moves for the first half of the week. Planning is important, and I always include which teams play on optimal days for streaming in the very first section so you can look for additional players that I don't mention as well. All the rostered percentages used in this article are from Yahoo! Let's see who can help us start the week strong!

Weekly Schedule: Monday to Thursday

Teams that play only one game (AVOID): Memphis, Houston, Oklahoma City

Teams that play three games (TARGET): Indiana, Orlando, Milwaukee

Shallow League Streaming Options

Deni Avdija- SF, PF (50%)

For the second consecutive week, Washington Wizards forward Deni Avdija appears as a shallow-league—streaming option. Like Avdija throwing his hands in the air at Jordan Poole to pass the ball, the Washington Wizards wing is in fantasy free agency, waiting on a roster spot. With Poole and Kyle Kuzma as teammates, high-scoring performances aren't a likely reoccurrence. However, Avdija's 13 (ppg), 2.8 (AST), and 1 (STL) stat line will help supplement your fantasy needs.

Grant Williams - PF (43%)

Starting a respectful 4-1, the Dallas Mavericks boast a second-ranked offensive rating. Aside from the awe-inspiring performances from Luka Doncic, Grant Williams has much to do with the Mavericks' ultra-efficient offense. Williams leads the league in three-point percentage (52 percent) among players with a minimum of 36 three-point attempts. With three-point shooting alone, Williams is worth the pickup, but he's far from a one-trick pony, indicative of his free throws, rebounds, and steals accumulated in last week's matchups.

Dillon Brooks - SG, SF (55%)

Regardless of what you think about Dillon Brooks' antics, his stats are undeniably impressive. On a roster riddled with young, unproven players, Brooks stands out as the constant irritant defender and newly acquired shooting prowess. As the veteran wing hits new highs as a dependable three-point shooter, averaging 60 percent on four attempts from deep, Brooks is evolving into something more than a hardcore defender and a shot-chucker, evident in his 92 percent free throw shooting in addition to 1.6 blocks per contest. Don't expect Brooks to remain available.

De'Andre Hunter - SF (63%)

Coming off a week in which he shot 15-29 from deep, Hawks wing De'Andre Hunter looks like a fantasy keeper for the time being. Worst case scenario, he helps you in the short term with a three-point shooting percentage that would shame fantasy basketball starters. Also, aside from shooting, Hunter's rebound stats help round out his worth as a streamer fantasy option.

Deep Leagues Streaming Options

David Roddy PF (5%)

If doing more with less was a person, Memphis Grizzlies forward David Roddy might take the cake this week. In week two, Ruddy shot a remarkable 18-35 from beyond the arc, only reaching the 30-minute playing mark once in the same timeframe. While Roddy's well may run dry, soak up as much as you can before it's too late.

Davion Mitchell - PG, SG (6%)

Before De'Aaron Fox returns from an ankle sprain, take advantage of backup guard Davion Mitchell. Although not a consistent fantasy option, Mitchell provides stellar three-point shooting after shooting 40 percent last week. For now, Mitchell is best utilized as a part-time streaming option.

Drew Eubanks - C (16%)

Despite the Phoenix Suns receiving a heavy dose of hype heading into the season, early on, injuries have derailed the championship-hopeful team. Although nowhere near a household name, Phoenix's backup center, Drew Eubanks, offers support in multiple fantasy categories. Last week, Eubanks recorded four blocks, 19 rebounds, and shot 8-16 on field goals. If you're experiencing injuries to your frontcourt, I'd suggest taking a flier on Eubanks.
