Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd was the 55th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Boyd had a productive college career, totaling 254 receptions for 3,361 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns in three years at Pittsburgh. He also had 63 rushing attempts for 520 yards and a touchdown in college.

Meanwhile, the former Pittsburgh Panther had a slow start to his NFL career, totaling only 76 receptions on 113 targets for 828 receiving yards and three touchdowns over his first two seasons. However, Boyd had back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons in 2018 and 2019.

While the former Pittsburgh star has been a solid wide receiver for the Bengals, his fantasy value is limited with Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins healthy.

Unfortunately, Higgins suffered a rib fracture during the Week 4 loss to the Tennessee Titans. He left the game after playing roughly 50% of the snaps. However, Boyd didn’t do much with the increased workload.

The veteran wide receiver ran a route on all but two of Joe Burrow’s dropbacks once Higgins left the game. Yet, he had only four receptions on seven targets for 26 receiving yards and 4.6 half-point PPR fantasy points in the contest.

Despite leaving the game with a fractured rib injury, Higgins says he won’t rule out playing against the Arizona Cardinals. Boyd’s fantasy value is severely limited if the former Clemson star plays in Week 5.

What Wide Receiver Should I Add Off The Waiver Wire?

Instead of adding Boyd off the waiver wire, fantasy players should target Allen Lazard. The veteran is available in over 70% of ESPN leagues. Last week, he had three receptions for 61 receiving yards and a touchdown, scoring 13.6 fantasy points against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Meanwhile, Lazard has an excellent matchup in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos. The AFC West team has given up six receiving touchdowns and nearly 36 fantasy points per game to wide receivers this year. More importantly, Denver has given up 474 receiving yards, three touchdowns, and 81.3 fantasy points to wide receivers over the past two weeks.
