Carolina Panthers - NFL Betting Analysis

Even though they finished in second place in the NFC-South, the Panthers couldn't sneak into the playoffs as a Wild Card and missed the playoffs. Carolina's overall record was 7-10 and 4-2 in the division. At home, the Panthers put together a mark of 5-4 while going 2-6 on the road.

The Panthers will be looking forward to the regular season debut of rookie Bryce Young. Carolina drafted Young in the 1st round out of Alabama. Also on the roster is Andy Dalton, who played for the Saints last season. Last season, Dalton played in 14 in games and finished with 2871 passing yards. His overall passer rating for the season was 95.2 which was 17th among QB's. Looking back to the Panthers' 2022 season, they finished 19th in scoring at 20.4 points per game. Carolina was 10th in rushing yards, with an average of 130.0 yards per contest. In terms of overall yardage, the Panthers were 28th (306.2) and finished with a red-zone conversion rate of 26.1%, which was 12th in the NFL.

The Panthers' defense is coming off a season in which they were 16th in points allowed and gave up an average of 350.2 yards per game (22nd). When looking at how they got after the quarterback, Carolina was 13th while also finishing 17th in quarterback hits while hitting the QB on 14.6% of their dropbacks.

Last season, the Panthers were 5-4 vs. the spread at home and 4-4 on the road. Overall, they were favored in four of their 17 games, going 0-4 straight-up and 0-4 ATS. As the underdog, they were 9-4 vs. the spread. Carolina wrapped up the season with an over/under record of 8-9.

Atlanta Falcons - NFL Betting Analysis

The Falcons head into the season looking to take a step forward, as they finished in last place in the NFC-South and 13th in the NFC. Atlanta's overall record was 7-10, including going 1-7 on the road and 6-3 at home. In divisional games, the Falcons went 2-4.

Atlanta starting quarterback Desmond Ridder will taking over for Marcus Mariota who led the Falcons in passing yards last season (2219) and is now on the Eagles. Last season, Ridder played in four games and finished with 708 yards on a completion percentage of 63.5%. The Falcons finished last season ranked 23rd in yards per game on an average of 21.5 points per game (15th). In the passing game, Atlanta ranked 29th in passing attempts and 31st in passing yards. Their ground game saw the Falcons average 159.9 yards per contest (2nd).

When looking at how the Falcons' defense performed on 3rd down last season, they were 29th in the NFL with opponents converting 45.9% of their 3rd down attempts. Atlanta finished the season 12th in turnovers and allowed an average of 22.7, putting them 20th in the NFL.

Atlanta's over/under record last season wrapped up at 7-10 with their games averaging 44.2 points per contest. When looking at how they finished vs. the spread, they were 9-8 with an average scoring margin of -1.2 point per game.

Today's NFL Betting Pick - Panthers vs. Falcons

Last year, the Falcons and Panthers split their head-to-head matchups, with each team going 1-1. Against the spread, the Panthers went 2-0 while the over/under record in these games was 1-1 on an average of 55.5 points per game.
