Should I Draft Amari Cooper or DJ Moore? Mike Fanelli analyzes NFL players with similar values, and tells you who to pick once you're on the clock in your fantasy football draft.
The 2023 regular season season is almost here. That means fantasy players have only a few weeks to complete all of their fantasy football drafts.
One of the toughest decisions fantasy players have to make every year is deciding between two similar options. Since fantasy players can’t possibly draft both guys, they must make the hard decision on which player to pick.
Today we look at whether fantasy players should draft Amari Cooper or DJ Moore.

Should I Draft Amari Cooper?
Last year the fantasy football community had their doubts about the veteran wide receiver. Cooper went from catching passes from Dak Prescott on an explosive Dallas Cowboys offense to playing with Jacoby Brissett and the Cleveland Browns. However, the former Alabama star had an excellent 2022 season.
Cooper was the WR10 last year, averaging 12.2 half-point PPR fantasy points per game, the second-highest average of his career. Furthermore, the star wide receiver set career highs in targets (132), receiving yards (1,160), and touchdowns (nine).
According to the RotoBaller ADP, the veteran is a fourth-round pick in 12-team leagues and the 19th wide receiver off the board. While he missed the earlier part of offseason workouts recovering from hernia surgery, Cooper has been impressive during training camp.
Should I Draft DJ Moore?
The former Carolina Panthers wide receiver saw a significant boost in his fantasy value after getting traded to the Chicago Bears this offseason. Moore has spent his entire NFL career playing with several subpar quarterbacks in Carolina. Yet, he has been a consistent WR2.
Moore has had at least 1,150 receiving yards or seven touchdowns in four consecutive seasons. More importantly, the veteran will be the No. 1 wide receiver on an up-and-coming offense led by Justin Fields. The former star wide receiver had a strong start as a Bear, scoring a 62-yard touchdown in the team’s Week 1 preseason matchup.
According to the RotoBaller ADP, Moore is a fifth-round pick in 12-team leagues and the 22nd wide receiver off the board. Last year the star wide receiver finished as the WR22, averaging 9.9 fantasy points per game despite playing with four quarterbacks.
Who Should I Draft?
Fantasy players should be excited to have either wide receiver as their WR2 this season. Both players have gotten an upgrade at quarterback and are the top receiving option for their team. However, Moore is one spot higher than Cooper in my wide receivers rankings.
The Browns added Elijah Moore in the offseason. He is a popular third-year breakout candidate after having strong offseason workouts. While Moore’s arrival shouldn’t hurt Cooper’s fantasy value much, it does potentially limit his upside.
