DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (8/7/23): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

Spencer Strider - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Injury News

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on August 7, 2023. Mike's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Today I am Lenny Harris. A late-inning pinch hitter for MLB DFS today. We have a lot to get to with an eight-game slate and not a lot of time, so let's go!

This article contains my picks for the eight-game main slate on Monday, August 7, 2023, for both DraftKings and FanDuel, which locks at 7:55 PM ET. There is a chance of rain in the northeast, but it looks like all games should be able to play with a minor delay possible in New York and Pittsburgh.

The lineup picks will range from some elite high-priced players to mid-priced options and value plays. I'll give you a few of my top pitching options and then some infielders, outfielders, and teams to stack. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Spencer Strider, ATL at PIT ($12,800 DK, $11,500 FD)

The strikeout projection on Strider is the highest it has been all season at 11.5. Strider has at least nine strikeouts in every game since Flag Day. 10 strikeouts here is a lock and he is an absolute bargain on FanDuel. It's a little trickier on DraftKings with that price and having to pay for two pitchers.

Gavin Williams, CLE vs. TOR ($7,400 DK, $7,900 FD)

Williams has looked good so far in his brief major league career, but tonight will present one of his tougher tests. I have Williams here since FanDuel jacked up the price on Dane Dunning thanks to him going all Nolan Ryan on the White Sox last week. Look, those 11 strikeouts are a fluke from Dunning. Williams seems to be a lot less volatile and has a higher strikeout floor. He hasn’t allowed more than three runs in a game since his third start in the majors back on July 3. Dunning has done so twice in five turns since then.

Of course, if you want to stack Braves and use Strider, I'm not completely opposed to Peter Lambert and his 2.13 road ERA. Just keep in mind that he'll strike out about as many Brewers as you will.

Others to consider: Gerrit Cole ($11,300 DK, $11,000 FD) at CWS; Cole Ragans ($5,200 DK, $7,100 FD) at BOS

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Pete Alonso - 1B, NYM vs. CHC ($5,600 DK, $3,700 FD)

Alonso is 4-for-12 in his career against Drew Smyly with a double and two homers...the only two homers the current Mets have against Smyly. I don't plan on stacking the Mets here, but Alonso has three homers in his last ten games and has a good history against Smyly. He's worth a one-off if you go cheap on your second pitcher with Strider.

Zack Gelof - 2B(DK) - 3B(FD), OAK vs. TEX ($4,300 DK, $3,500 FD)

Gelof does a little bit of everything, which makes him a nice mid-range DFS target. Gelof is only hitting .250 over the last 10 games, but he has four homers, five RBI, eight runs, and four steals in that span. None of the homers have come in the same game as the steals, so he is giving us a little something in every game.

Wilmer Flores - 1B(DK)- 1B/2B/3B(FD), SF at LAA ($3,300 DK, $2,800 FD)

His seven-game hit streak snapped yesterday, but he is still hitting .341 with two homers, four RBI, and five runs over his last 10 games. Flores is smashing lefties at a .342 clip on the season with five homers and 14 RBI in only 114 at-bats. The Giants offense hits lefties well and Flores should be right in the middle of the order. I love this discount to try and smash in as many Braves as I can.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Ronald Acuna Jr. - OF, ATL at PIT ($6,600 DK, $4,700 FD)

It's natural to want to leave Acuna and this massive price tag out of your stacks, but it's really hard for me to do that. Acuna is hitting .500 over his last 10 games. That is not a typo. .500 for ten freaking games! That is practically unheard of where people who are successful a third of the time are immortalized in bronze busts. Acuna is 18-for-36 with eight walks, two doubles, a triple, two homers, nine RBI, 12 runs scored, and five steals in that span. Pay up. He's worth it.

Mike Tauchman - OF, CHC at NYM ($3,800 DK, $3,200 FD)

Maybe it’s time to quit acting like the Cubs are a fluke. They just took two of three at Wrigley from the Braves, for Harry Caray’s sake! The Cubbies are sitting in third in the N.L. Central right now and are well withing shouting distance of the Reds and Brewers.

Heading this juggernaut has been Tauchman, who is hitting .362 with three homers, 19 RBI, 18 runs scored, and two steals in just 69 at-bats over the last month. He only starts against right-handed pitching, but he bats leadoff and baseballs look like beach balls to this lineup right now. Tauchman is still too cheap for the production we’re getting.

Seth Brown - 1B/OF, OAK vs. TEX ($3,300 DK, $2,500 FD)

Brown is hitting .370 with a homer, four RBI, and a pair of runs over his last 10 games. His price on FanDuel is very cheap for this production and a guy batting cleanup. I'm chasing Dunning for a few reasons, the first of which is Oakland's underrated left-handed bats. Another is the higher-than-usual ownership of Dunning after his demolition of the Sox last week. That's likely not happening again.

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

Atlanta Braves vs. Osvaldo Bido

Bido just gave up four runs in three innings to the Tigers. What do you think the Braves will do to him? This is a tough stack due to the prices on Strider, Acuna, and Matt Olson, but all feel necessary. You can get different by throwing in the hottest 8-hole hitter in the game in Orlando Arcia and Michael Harris II in the ninth slot for a moderately more affordable wrap-around stack. If the batboy were available on DFS sites tonight, I would use him too. You can't really go wrong with anyone in the Atlanta lineup.

Also consider: Texas Rangers vs. Ken Waldichuk

Texas smokes lefties like Swisher Sweets and Waldo hasn't gone five innings since May 19. The Rangers are also expensive but the prices still pale in comparison to the Braves. Adolis Garcia, Marcus Semien, and Mitch Garver are my favorite Texas pieces.

Sneaky Stack: Chicago Cubs vs. Kodai Senga

So you want to get different, huh? Throw a three-man stack at a pitcher priced in five figures. Senga is an effective pitcher, but he also walks quite a few batters and gives up his share of hits. I mentioned Tauchman earlier in this piece as my favorite one-off. Cody Bellinger and Jeimer Candelario also remained red-hot against the Braves over the weekend, so they are in my three-man as well.
