Max Scherzer Officially Heading To The Rangers
10 months agoNew York Mets ace Max Scherzer was traded to the Texas Rangers in exchange for prospect Luisangel Acuna on Saturday. The 39-year-old will waive his full no-trade clause so the deal goes through. According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, Scherzer exercised his player option (43.33 million) for the 2024 season, and he will be a Ranger throughout the end of his contract. Texas is paying Scherzer $22.5 million, and the Mets are paying it down to that level. He owns a 9-4 record, a 4.01 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and a 121:30 K: BB across 107 2/3 innings in 2023. Scherzer has allowed two earned runs or less in five of his previous eight starts. The veteran will give the Rangers a massive boost to their starting rotation. Scherzer will make his Rangers debut sometime in the middle of next week.
