Bobby Miller - Fantasy Baseball Pitcher Waiver Wire Adds for Week 9

ANALYSIS:  With starting pitcher Julio Urias (hamstring) moved to the 15-day injured list, the Los Angeles Dodgers called up top pitching prospect Bobby Miller from Triple-A Oklahoma. He will make his long-awaited major-league debut Tuesday.

Miller has struggled in Triple-A this season. In four starts with Oklahoma this season, the right-hander has a 5.65 ERA with just a 19.7% strikeout rate and a 9.8% walk rate.

While Miller has struggled this season, he is coming off his best start. He allowed one run on two hits while striking out six batters across six innings.

The 24-year-old ranks as the top pitching prospect in a loaded Dodgers system because of his elite arsenal, headlined by his fastball. The pitch regularly hits triple-digits and stays at that velocity deep in games.

His arsenal is rounded out by a few other strong pitches. He tunnels his fastball well with a filthy slider and a plus high-80s changeup. His sinker/two-seam gets close to his fastball in velocity and has a great sink. His curveball has also come along recently and now is one of his most used secondary pitches.

Miller will make his first start on Tuesday against the Atlanta Braves. Atlanta's offense ranks second in home runs, third in OPS, and seventh in runs scored. Spencer Strider will take the mound opposite the Dodgers rookie in a nationally televised game. Despite the tough matchup, the 2020 first-round pick has a high ceiling as a starter. Fantasy managers searching for pitching help should look to add Miller in all league formats.
