The Kick-Off - EPL Matchweek 17

Vegas Odds for the Day

Goalies

Alisson- DK $5.9K || FD $14

Opponent - Southampton

On a larger slate like this, you would think there would be more than one overwhelming favorite, but it looks like we have our ‘chalk’ keeper of the slate. However, Alisson and company have not been the greatest lately, conceding four goals over their last three appearances. He has also dropped two of his last five matches. Luckily, Southampton is at the bottom of the league in goals for – 12 –. If you are playing GPP contests instead, refer to the highlighted options below.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Lloris (DK $5.6K || FD $13), Guaita (DK $4.9K || FD $11)

Forwards

Mohamed Salah-DK $10.5K || FD $22

Opponent - Southampton

Another ‘chalk’ play will be Salah. The winger is picking up form yet again and unfortunately for him, the World Cup break came at a bad time. In his past five matches, he has four goals and 23 shots. Points aside, Salah is easily shooting enough to maintain value, averaging four shots in that time period. Southampton also gives up the fifth-most goals in the league – 23 –. This bodes well for the striker setting him up for success at the weekend.

Gianluca Scamacca- DK $5.9K || FD $15

Opponent - Leicester City

It almost seems crazy that Scamacca could have such a manageable salary this weekend. The striker has not scored a goal in his last five matches, but he has been averaging two shots per game and he is walking into a prime matchup with Leicester’s poor defense. Leicester not only concedes the fourth-most goals in the league – 24 –but they also give up quite the amount of shots per game too – 1.18 –. Just like Salah, if Scamacca cannot get on the score sheet, his shooting volume alone will bring value.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Kane (DK $9.4K || FD $21, Maupay (DK $4.3K || FD $14)

Midfielders

Dejan Kulusevski- DK $8.6K || FD $16

Opponent - Leeds United

Tottenham fans will be rejoicing in the streets as Kulusevski returns to the lineup and even more so after Son went down with an injury a little over a week ago. Kulusevski should instantly go to set-pieces and he will be the main provider to anything teammate Harry Kane does. Leeds is not nearly as bad as Leicester City, but their defense and their goalie are suspect at best. This is the ideal matchup for Kulusevski to be coming back into the starting XI.

Eberechi Eze- DK $7.9K || FD $16

Opponent - Nottingham Forest

This may be the top-value play of the slate. Eze is not only on the majority of set pieces, but he is also averaging two shots per game too. Nottingham is currently the second-worst club in the league defensively, conceding 30 goals over the season and the third-most shots per game – 1.44 –. Despite Crystal Palace playing away this weekend, it is still a prime matchup for them and Eze will be at the center of it. In his last five appearances, he has one goal, one assist, 13 shots, 13 created chances, 16 crosses, 13 corners, and six tackles in all competitions.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Maddison (DK $9K || FD $20), Gibbs-White (DK $7.2K || FD $16)

Defense

Trent Alexander-Arnold- DK $6.7K || FD $13

Opponent - Southampton

Our final ‘chalk’ play of the slate lands us with Alexander-Arnold. The wingback has been the topic of discussion this season due to his lack of defensive play. He has been solely offensive and even that he has struggled with, amassing zero assists through 13 domestic appearances. Thankfully due to his poor play this season, we get the defender at a more manageable salary this weekend, making it ‘easier’ to fit multiple high-salaried pieces. Over his last five appearances – four starts –he has three shots, eight created chances, 32 crosses, 14 corners, and 10 tackles in all competitions.

Neco Williams- DK $5.3K || FD $12

Opponent - Crystal Palace

A defender that is in the opposite form of Alexander-Arnold is Neco Williams. Williams has been putting together solid outings over his last five matches – four starts – amassing four shots, two chances created, 18 crosses, three corners, 12 tackles, nine interceptions, and four clearances in all competitions. No matter who has possession in this meeting, Williams will be racking up the peripherals and the wingers of Crystal Palace should keep him plenty busy.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Cresswell (DK $5.5K || FD $12), Royal (DK $4.6K || FD $10)

Corner Takers:

AFC Bournemouth: Tavernier

Everton: Gray/McNeil

Liverpool: Alexander-Arnold/Robertson

Southampton: Ward-Prowse

Nottingham Forest: Gibbs-White

Crystal Palace: Eze/Olise

Tottenham: Kulusevski

Leeds United: Aaronson/Harrison

West Ham United: Bowen/Cresswell

Leicester City: Maddison

Thanks for reading The Kick-Off! Good luck in all of your contests today!
