Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs had an offseason full of headlines and stories. The rookie shined all offseason long, making impressive plays since he stepped foot in Green Bay.
After losing Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling in the offseason, the Packers had 224 targets from last year’s team to replace. While Allen Lazard was expected to take on a larger target share this year than in 2021, someone else needed to step up for Green Bay.
Despite being a fourth-round pick, Doubs has stepped up for the team. On Sunday, the rookie had his best performance of the year, helping the Packers earn a 14-12 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Should I Add Romeo Doubs After His Week 3 Performance?
Doubs is arguably the top waiver wire addition this week. However, the rookie receiver from Nevada shouldn’t be on the waiver wire in your league. After his performance during training camp and the preseason, the rookie should have gotten drafted in all standard-size leagues.
Furthermore, many, including myself, called for Doubs to make a fantasy impact shortly after he was selected in the NFL Draft.
Is Allen Lazard Or Romeo Doubs Green Bay's WR1?
The rookie receiver was critical in the Packers’ win on Sunday. He was second in snaps played with 55, seeing only one fewer than Lazard. However, Doubs led the team in targets with eight, two more than Lazard and one more than tight end Robert Tonyan. Furthermore, he ran 34 routes on Aaron Rodgers’ 36 dropbacks against Tampa Bay.
More importantly, the rookie the Packers in fantasy points this week, scoring 17.3 half-point PPR fantasy points as he caught all eight of his targets for 73 yards and his first career touchdown. He also leads all Green Bay wide receivers with 27.8 half-point PPR fantasy points this season.
While Doubs needs to be added in all leagues this week, is he the WR1 in Green Bay? No, not yet.
Lazard still has Rodgers’ trust as his go-to weapon while the rookie has run the wrong routes at times this season, frustrating Rodgers. However, Doubs has clearly put himself ahead of every other wide receiver on the roster, including fellow rookie Christian Watson.
Despite his strong performance against the Buccaneers, Doubs isn’t the WR1 in Green Bay. However, he is another impressive outing or two away from taking the role away from Lazard.
