BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team PPR Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 0% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Moment of silence for Amon-Ra St. Brown, who could catch eight targets for the first time in six weeks getting all the way back to Week 15 of the 2021 season. The Lions would have liked him to do it as that'd have been enough to defeat the Vikings, but it couldn't be. Not that Detroit can complain that much considering he still caught six passes and, most importantly, that he saw Josh Reynolds play to a very high standard that might take some defensive-eyes off him going forward.
Reynolds had only gotten three-and-three targets in the first two games of the season. St. Brown (12) logged twice those six targets in the first game of the season alone and has now been targeted 33 times. Sheesh. Anyway, Reynolds was never going to be the Lions' WR1 but he's now on his way to being a legitimate WR2 in Detroit's offense.
Just last Sunday, QB Jared Goff peppered Reynolds with 10 targets to St. Brown's nine--although it must be said that the star WR missed some snaps as he got banged up for a minute and was forced out of the field. Reynolds made the most of those chances and finished the day with six receptions for 96 total yards lacking only a scoring play.
There were concerns about Reynolds' potential use going forward considering he went from 55 snaps in W1 to only 44 in W2, but Detroit fixed that in Week 3 deploying him 62 times and targeting him the most (DJ Chark got six targets). It made sense, though, considering Reynolds already went for 3-for-3 receptions, a touchdown, and 38 yards in his Week 2 effort.
St. Brown and Chark are the WR1/WR2 of the Lions in the depth chart for now and that shouldn't change in a hurry. That said, we'll see if Reynolds can keep his efficiency up, and if that's the case then maybe he overtakes Chark in Goff's pecking order when it comes to the QB scanning the field and throwing passes.
Forget about finding Reynolds in every (zero percent rostership as I'm writing this) league from this week on.
