Josh Lowe Hitting Seventh, Serving As DH
3 years agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Josh Lowe is serving as the designated hitter and is batting seventh on Opening Day on Friday against Baltimore Orioles left-hander John Means. Randy Arozarena, Kevin Kiermaier and Manuel Margot are in the outfield for Tampa to kick off the regular season. Lowe being in the lineup right off the bat against a left is a good sign after he hit .291/.381/.535 with 22 home runs and 26 stolen bases in 111 games for Triple-A Durham in 2021. The team's No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, hits from the left side and could have 25-plus homer power if he continues to cut down on his strikeouts. If Lowe can master southpaws as well, look out.
