Will Justin Jefferson play for the Minnesota Vikings in 2025? Will Justin Jefferson be healthy enough to play in Week 1? John breaks down the latest Justin Jefferson injury news for fantasy football.
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson (hamstring) is currently dealing with a hamstring injury. Fantasy football managers who drafted the star wideout, who happens to be one of the best to ever play the game of football, are rightfully worried.
Jefferson, like many other WRs, has missed time in the past and even had a stint on injured reserve due to hamstring issues. One of the most frustrating, lingering, and nagging issues for athletes in any sport that requires blistering speed hasn't spared JJettas.
And since he's a universal first-round pick in redraft leagues, whether or not he plays is of massive importance to fantasy football leagues. Players as elite as he is tend to carry their teams to the playoffs year after year, both in real-life football and in fantasy. So, how's Jefferson doing, and what's his fantasy football outlook for 2025? Let's dive in!

Will Justin Jefferson Play This Season?
Yes. There is no reason to expect him not to. Hamstring injuries can cause extended absences, but they virtually never knock a player out for a full NFL season unless they're reaggravated. Whether he reinjures his hamstring is a different issue, but there's no way to predict that yet.
Jefferson is also exactly the kind of player that a team would want to be overly cautious with before the season starts. There's not much point in having him practice if they think there's even a small chance he could pick up a more serious injury. He has plenty of NFL experience to draw on.

And though Jettas missed some practice time, he recently returned to practice. It's safe to say the worst of his hammy issues are behind him, for now. It's likely that he felt a small amount of pain or discomfort and was told to sit out before medical tests came back positive, and was recommended a return.
Will Justin Jefferson Play In Week 1?
Given the timetable of his return to practice, it's hard to imagine Jefferson even misses the first week of NFL action. We have word from the man himself that his issue isn't as bad as the 2023 ailment that landed him on injured reserve and caused him to miss seven games.

That's certainly a good sign. We also hope he continues to strengthen his hamstrings, of course. Given the speed and acceleration that elite wide receivers possess, they are tasked with putting an incredible amount of stress on these particular muscles. That should come as no surprise.
Justin Jefferson 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook
There will be a bit of missed chemistry development between Jefferson and the Vikings' new starting quarterback, J.J. McCarthy. Regardless, No. 18 is one of the best WRs of all time at beating coverages, getting open, and making tough catches. His route running is sublime.
Of all receivers with whom you might not need to build a ton of chemistry to succeed, Jefferson might be one of the shining examples. Look his way often and throw the ball his way often. Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell certainly knows that he has to scheme as many plays for his star as possible.

His consistency is remarkable, and as a coverage assignment, he's a nightmare. Every season that Jefferson plays in his 20s, you should expect him to have week-winning upside. That's how things are with future Hall of Fame players.
There's little doubt that when JJ hangs up the cleats, he'll be five years away from a surefire first-ballot Hall of Fame induction. So, draft him in the early part of the first round of redraft leagues with full confidence. Few players can boost you to a championship like Jefferson can.
