BALLER MOVE: Draft target ~pick 225
CURRENT ADP: ~240 overall
ANALYSIS: Myers’ ADP continues a modest climb following his signing in Cincinnati but there’s still plenty of room to profit. There’s some Myers fatigue as he debuted in 2013 at 22, but the man is only 32 and now gets hitter-friendly confines at Great American Ballpark.
Do not discount GABP in your head. For right-handed batters over the last three years, Statcast Park Factors has it as the second-best overall park (110) and by far the best for home runs (145). Dodger Stadium sits at 137 for RHB HRs and then Coors takes the bronze with 121. Only 13 of the 30 parks are above 100. Myers signing with Cincy is critical.
While I'd love for him to be rejuvenated by the move and become more than a fastball-only hitter (.322 BA in '22, under .200 against the rest), the suppressed price point makes even that outcome acceptable. Myers and Joey Votto can tag-team the 1B/DH slots near the heart of Cincy's order. The Reds have little competition for PAs and, sadly, little motivation to accelerate many top prospects.
And I'll remind you that while Myers' steal tallies have waned of late, his sprint speed has held steady. It was 28.2 ft/sec in 2022, 28.3 ft/sec in '21, and 28.6 ft/sec back in 2015. There's sneaky potential for a renaissance in that department if the Reds embrace their scrappy, fight-for-every-run destiny.
