Fantasy Football Trade Outlooks

Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider trading for or trading away heading into Week 9:

Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Cardinals
Trade Value: 40.5
ROS Rank: 57

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. has had a tumultuous season so far, which is on par with how his rookie year went as well. The former Buckeye put up a WR38 performance in Week 7 before their bye, which was noticeably better than his week prior.

Working in his favor this week is that the Dallas Cowboys are the worst-ranked defense against opposing receivers. They give an average of 41.49 fantasy points per matchup to the position and have given up a total of 96 receptions for 1,378 yards and 15 touchdowns. With Jacoby Brissett on the field, Harrison profiles as a mid-level WR2.

Verdict: Buy low if possible; better days ahead, especially if Jacoby Brissett continues to start over Kyler Murray

Nick Chubb, RB, Texans
Trade Value: 17.4
ROS Rank: 117

Houston Texans running back Nick Chubb continues to share time in the backfield with Woody Marks, with his primary workload coming on early downs. Chubb had 17 carries last week compared to just 11 for Marks, but since he only had two targets and two catches for 13 yards, Marks was a slightly better fantasy play.

Chubb hasn't found the end zone since Week 5, and he only has two touchdowns on the year. Since his high mark of the season is only 61 rushing yards, he needs to get into the end zone to be worth a look in Week 9. He'll face the Broncos, who have been tough against the run, allowing only seven touchdowns to running backs this season.

Chubb hasn't been able to consistently get big gains, so he is only the RB38 in RotoBaller's Week 9 rankings. He's a desperation flex play if you need him, but he is very high risk since he's so touchdown dependent.

Verdict: Avoid buying in trades unless you own Woody Marks and want his in-team handcuff

Troy Franklin, WR, Broncos
Trade Value: 17
ROS Rank: 119

Through eight games this season, Denver Broncos wide receiver Troy Franklin has recorded 33 catches for 358 yards and four touchdowns. The 22-year-old has played some of his best football of late, hauling in nine catches for 108 yards and three touchdowns on 18 targets over his last two games.

Franklin appears to be emerging as the clear WR2 in Denver alongside Courtland Sutton. Franklin's target share could be even more solidified in Week 9 against the Houston Texans, as Broncos wideout Marvin Mims Jr. (concussion) will be sidelined due to a concussion.

If there's a concern for Franklin's outlook in Week 9, it's the strength of the Houston defense. The Texans have allowed the third-fewest passing yards (1,375) and the fewest passing touchdowns (six) in the NFL through eight weeks. Still, Franklin profiles as a low-end WR3/flex option for fantasy managers in Week 9.

Verdict: Sell high if you can; his production has been very touchdown dependent, and Bo Nix spreads his targets

Mason Taylor, TE, Jets
Trade Value: 11.4
ROS Rank: 145

New York Jets rookie tight end Mason Taylor recorded five catches for 34 yards and a touchdown in his team's Week 8 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. The 21-year-old has now hauled in 29 catches for 242 yards and a score on 42 targets across the first eight games of his NFL career.

Taylor has emerged as the number two option in the Jets' passing game behind star wideout Garrett Wilson (knee), earning at least five targets in five out of his last six games played. Given New York's struggles as a passing offense, that still leaves Taylor with a relatively limited ceiling as a fantasy tight end.
"
Further complicating matters, the Jets have their bye in Week 9. However, Taylor has shown enough that he could be worth stashing through the bye in deeper fantasy leagues.

Verdict: Buy-low candidate since the Jets are on a bye week. He's TE8 in targets through 8 games (5.3 p/g)

Who Should I Trade For?

Week 9 Trade Decisions. Today's focus is on specific players - Marvin Harrison Jr., Troy Franklin, Rashid Shaheed, Nick Chubb, Dallas Goedert, Mason Taylor, Tre Tucker. These are some key fantasy football names heading into this week's matchups.

Using The Trade Values. This is a simple trade value tool, but very powerful. In our fantasy football trade value rankings above, you will see the Trade Value for each player. The higher the number, the higher the priority for targeting in trades. Players with a high trade value number are players that you should be targeting more in trades.

How It Works. Each week, our RotoBaller staff puts together their weekly fantasy football rankings, projections, and trade values based on their research. That information is the core data that is powering the decision-making in this trade value rankings.

How To Calculate Trades. Fantasy football managers will make 1-for-1 trades, or 2-for-3 trades, or 3-for-2 trades, or many other combinations. For each side of the deal, add the trade values together. Whichever side has a higher total number wins the trade. For example, if someone is offering you three players, add the trade values of those three players together. Does the value of those three players exceed the values of the player(s) you are trading away? If so then it's a good deal for you.
