Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 3:
Jacory Croskey-Merritt, RB, Washington Commanders
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt is expected to step in as the Washington Commanders' starter following the devastating Achilles injury to Austin Ekeler in Thursday night's 27-18 loss to Green Bay.
Croskey-Merritt has flashed efficiency early, posting 14 carries for 99 yards and a touchdown through two games despite playing fewer than 33% of the snaps. With only Jeremy McNichols currently active alongside him, the rookie should handle the bulk of early-down rushing duties, while McNichols sees work in passing situations. Chris Rodriguez Jr., a healthy scratch in the first two games, is also a candidate to be active moving forward.
While Jacory Croskey-Merritt entered the season as a deep sleeper, he suddenly finds himself in line for a heavy workload. He's now an important fantasy asset with starting potential for the remainder of the 2025 season.
Omarion Hampton, RB, Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers running back Omarion Hampton struggled in Monday's 20-9 win against the Las Vegas Raiders. The rookie finished with eight carries for 24 yards and one catch for one yard. He ran hard, but the Raiders bottled up the run all night.
Najee Harris began to see more snaps when the Chargers were trying to ice the game, especially after a botched handoff between Hampton and quarterback Justin Herbert. Week 3 brings a Denver Broncos defense that's stingy in coverage but vulnerable up front. They allowed 165 rushing yards to Jonathan Taylor last week.
The Los Angeles Chargers could lean on the run in Week 3, giving Omarion Hampton another chance to break out. But if he doesn't step up, Harris may eat into his workload moving forward.
Bhayshul Tuten, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back Bhayshul Tuten logged 10 touches in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals, finishing with 74 yards from scrimmage and a receiving touchdown. In Jacksonville's first game after trading away running back Tank Bigsby to the Philadelphia Eagles, Tuten looks like the team's clear RB2 behind Travis Etienne Jr.
The 23-year-old Tuten has flashed upside as an explosive playmaker and should have a role with the Jaguars even if Etienne Jr. stays healthy. If Etienne Jr. were to get injured, Tuten would immediately become a must-start fantasy running back.
In any league where Bhayshul Tuten is available, the Jacksonville Jaguars' electric rookie running back should be a priority waiver-wire addition in all formats. Those looking to handcuff Travis Etienne Jr. should look no further.
TreVeyon Henderson, RB, New England Patriots
New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson rushed for 10 yards on three carries during Sunday's Week 2 win over the Miami Dolphins. He also caught two passes for an additional 30 yards through the air. After an impressive season opener, the rookie took a step back this past weekend as he was out-produced by Rhamondre Stevenson.
In fact, Stevenson led the team in carries, rushing yards, targets, receptions, and receiving yards. Stevenson's big game should allow him to hold onto the lead-back role a little longer, even if it's just on a week-by-week basis. He should maintain his 65 percent snap share while Henderson accounts for 30 to 35 percent of the offensive snaps.
The explosive rookie should continue to be stashed on fantasy managers' benches heading into the New England Patriots' Week 3 matchup against the Steelers. Meanwhile, Rhamondre Stevenson remains a solid RB2 option for the time being.
RJ Harvey, RB, Denver Broncos
Denver Broncos rookie running back RJ Harvey carries flex value heading into a Week 2 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. While Harvey was competing for the starting job during training camp, the Broncos opted to lean on their veteran, J.K. Dobbins, in the season opener.
During their victory over the Tennessee Titans, Dobbins carried the ball all 16 times while Harvey took just six carries. Despite the smaller workload, Harvey was every efficient in his role, totaling an impressive 70 yards, which led the team. Through the air, Harvey caught his lone target for -1 yards.
While the No. 3 option, Tyler Badie, could also take opportunities away from Harvey, given his elite efficiency, the rookie should still provide low-end flex value in 12+ team leagues this weekend. However, Dobbins still figures to lead the team in carries.
