When is Jordan Lawlar getting called up? Will Lawlar get promoted in June 2025? Read about this top fantasy baseball prospect outlook heading into Week 10.
Fantasy managers have patiently waited for top-ranked Arizona Diamondbacks prospect Jordan Lawlar to get an extended look in the majors. While Lawlar debuted with the Diamondbacks late in 2023 and received another call-up earlier this year, the infielder hasn't been able to stick on their roster.
Major league stardom hasn't been in the cards yet, but the 22-year-old has run roughshod over the minors. Lawlar, whom the Diamondbacks drafted sixth overall in 2021, made his Triple-A debut two years later and has thrived at that level.
Across 68 games and 325 plate appearances with the Reno Aces, Lawlar has put together a scintillating .350/.427/.596 line with 14 home runs, 68 RBI, and 17 stolen bases. Thanks largely to that production, he ranks fourth on MLB Pipeline's list of the sport's best prospects. So, when are the Diamondbacks going to call Lawlar back up? Can we expect him to make his return in June? Let's dive in and find out.
Jordan Lawlar Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball
Lawlar began the year slashing a sizzling .336/.413/.579 in 37 games, which convinced Arizona to recall him. The Diamondbacks didn't have an obvious need for infield help, but the goal was for Lawlar to make an impact as a part-time player who would pick up a few starts per week.
The Diamondbacks' promotion of Lawlar didn't work out. He made just eight appearances (six starts) and went an abysmal 0-for-19 with three walks and nine strikeouts before the Diamondbacks sent him back to Reno on May 29.
Lawlar's woeful showing over a small sample in Arizona didn't faze him. Since returning to Triple-A, he has improved his season line to .341/.419/.591 over 187 trips to the plate. Overall, he has smacked seven home runs, knocked in 37 runs, stolen 13 bases, and walked at a respectable 10.7% clip. He went yard Tuesday as part of a four-RBI performance.

There isn't much (if anything) left to prove for Lawlar at the lower levels. Even though he was unable to secure a major league job in previous attempts, Lawlar has been hailed as a potential star since the predraft process.
Jordan Lawlar Outlook for Fantasy Baseball
Barring injuries in Arizona's lineup, another Lawlar call-up doesn't appear imminent. However, that could change with the July 31 trade deadline approaching and the D-backs looking like potential sellers. The club is a disappointing 29-31, 7.5 games out of the National League West lead and four back of a Wild Card spot.
If there's not a turnaround by the end of July, Arizona may elect to sell off soon-to-be free-agent hitters such as first baseman Josh Naylor and third baseman Eugenio Suarez. Moving either could impact Lawlar's path back to The Show.
As things stand, the D-backs have a strong infield with Naylor at first, Suarez at third, Geraldo Perdomo at short, and Ketel Marte at second. Perdomo and Marte are foundational pieces, so Lawlar is unlikely to usurp a regular spot from either.
Lawlar's future could primarily be at third if the team parts with Suarez. That said, Lawlar has the versatility to spell Perdomo and Marte when needed. He can certainly flash the leather in the middle infield.

In an ideal world for the Diamondbacks, Lawlar will nab a regular role soon and give them a third great infielder to join Perdomo and Marte. That could happen either later this season or in 2026, depending on how the roster looks after the deadline.
Fantasy managers will have to continue monitoring Arizona's status for the next two months to see if Lawlar will receive a legitimate chance to emerge in 2025. Perhaps the third time will be the charm for Lawlar in the coming weeks.
