Taijuan Walker (SP, SEA) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 35% of Flealficker Leagues

ANALYSIS: Yesterday, Taijuan Walker threw his second consecutive solid game for the Mariners, this time against the Yankees. For the second consecutive start, he threw eight innings, which is a great sign for his outlook. Although he gave up 3 ER, he only allowed 5 hits and 1 BB, while racking up 7 K. In his previous start against Cleveland, he only allowed 2 hits and 0 BB, to go along with 8 K. For a young talent as highly touted as Walker has been, this is certainly an encouraging sign, especially the much improved walk rate, and his recent performance has caught my attention in all fantasy formats. As of now, Walker is only 35% owned in fantasy leagues, and that's understandable given his high walk rate and shaky start to the season. But I'm not ready to give up on him yet. In fact, I'm ready to buy in, because if he can continue this trend, we could be looking at waiver wire gold going forward. It's a low risk, high reward move, so if you're looking to find some pitching depth on the waiver wire feel free to give him a try his next start against a Cleveland team that he completely dominated just a few days back.
