BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team PPR Leagues
ROSTERED: 11% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: As ridiculous as it sounds, James White (personal) is the only fantasy-relevant player on New England's injury report entering Week 4 as RB Damien Harris is getting back from Injured Reserve. We all know how much of a headache the Patriots backfield is, and has been for the last 50 years. That being said, though, veteran Rex Burkhead is as solid a play as they can get.
While Burkhead was very limited in Week 1 (19 snaps...) he still was handed the ball 7 times (more than White's five carries) and rushed it for 32 yards. On a much healthier diet in Week 2 (backfield-leading 51 snaps) he logged 12 opportunities and turned 10 into touches (6 carries and 4/6 receptions for 49 yards from scrimmage).
He leveled up once more this past weekend against Las Vegas posting his best game of the year with 49 yards on the ground and 2 TDs while catching 7 of 10 targets for 49 more yards and another score. No wonder his 34.8 PPR points ranked him as the RB2 of the week only behind stud Alvin Kamara (44.7).
Don't expect Burkhead to have 35-fantasy point performances every week. Only eight players have had 49-49 games (receiving/rushing yards) through W3, and all of them (except Joshua Kelley) are better than Rex, let's be honest here. Even with that, Burkhead is the RB18 in PPR leagues and should be a good weekly play for around 10 steady fantasy points. The floor is very low and the ceiling very high, which makes him a proper FLEX option with upside for much more if all things click for him as they did last Sunday.
