Zane Smith is racing the #51 Ford for Rick Ware Racing at Martinsville Speedway this weekend after it was announced that Cody Ware, who typically drives the #51, is indefinitely suspended by NASCAR after being arrested on separate counts of felony assault less than a week ago. Ware has an average finish of 27.7 in the #51 car this season, which is why it was quite surprising to see Zane Smith show some speed in practice and qualifying at Martinsville on Saturday. He was 18th-fastest in practice and ranked 16th-fastest in ten-lap average. Smith has made three NASCAR Cup Series starts in his career with a best finish of 13th in this year's Daytona 500. He will start from 33rd in Sunday's NOCO 400 at Martinsville.--Jordan McAbee
