Yasmani Grandal Has Calf Strain
5 years agoChicago White Sox catcher Yasmani Grandal (calf) was diagnosed with a minor calf strain in his left leg after undergoing an MRI exam. Grandal will be held out of the first week of Cactus League action, but he's expected to be fine for Opening Day. The White Sox will play it safe with their big free-agent acquisition behind the plate. The Cuban native won't hit for a high average (career .241 hitter) and strikes out a lot, but he clubbed a career-high 28 long balls and drove in 77 in 153 games with the Brewers last season. He has 20-plus homers in each of the last four seasons and is one of the better power-hitting catchers in baseball.
