Yankees Trying To Keep DJ LeMahieu
4 years agoNew York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said the team has continued negotiations with infielder DJ LeMahieu as the team tries to retain the American League MVP finalist. The 32-year-old is reportedly looking for a five-year deal in the $100 million range after the AL batting champion hit .364 in 2020. He's also slashed an incredible .336/.386/.536 in 195 games for the Yankees in the last two seasons. Cashman isn't entertaining contingency plans at second base but did not that Gleyber Torres is better at the keystone than at shortstop. One of the best all-around hitters in baseball, LeMahieu is receiving interest from other teams as well, most notably the Nationals. A return to the Bronx still seems like the most likely outcome, but the 32-year-old should be viewed as the best fantasy second baseman no matter where he winds up.
