Willie Calhoun Has Two Hits, Homers
4 years agoTexas Rangers designated hitter Willie Calhoun went 2-for-4 and hit a solo home run during the club's 2-1 loss to the Chicago White Sox on Saturday. The 26-year-old's dramatic homer came in the top of the ninth inning off closer Liam Hendriks but the Rangers then lost the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. Calhoun has at least one hit in five of his six games this season since returning from a groin injury suffered in the spring. He appeared to be on the cusp of a breakout after the 2019 season (110 wRC+) but he then struggled through an injury-marred 2020 season. Although he's defensively challenged, Calhoun's bat makes him an intriguing fantasy option.
