Milwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras is on the bench for Wednesday's road matchup with the Cincinnati Reds. It appears to be just a regular day off for the 27-year-old backstop, who's started 12 contests over the last 13 days. Teammate Eric Haase will be behind the dish and bat eighth in his stead. Contreras has ticked his walk rate up this season to a career-high 14.5%, but he's struggled with his bat compared to the last few years. The Venezuelan native's BABIP is unusually low by his standards (.291), and there's also been a decline in his quality of contact after sporting personal-bests in average exit velocity and hard-hit rate in 2024. Maybe his recent back-to-back three-hit efforts are enough to break him out of his funk.--Alex Ciulla
