Whit Merrifield Smacks 100th Hit of 2019
5 years agoKansas City Royals utility man Whit Merrifield became the first player in the majors to reach 100 hits this season when he knocked a single in the sixth inning of Monday night's game in Cleveland. Merrifield also cranked his 11th home run of the year to left, though his team would fall in extra innings. Merrifield's posting another strong season, hitting .303 with 11 homers, 11 stolen bases, and 56 runs scored so far, putting him on pace for a 20/20 season without too much trouble. That said, it looks like the days of 40+ steals were short-lived while Merrifield's power has increased.
