Ty Gibbs Starts 19th At Bristol After Damage In Practice
9 months agoAfter hitting the wall in practice, Ty Gibbs nabbed a starting position of 19th for this week's Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Following two top-10 starting positions in the last two races this year, Gibbs will make his second-lowest starting position of the year at Bristol. In two BMS starts, the driver of the No. 54 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota has a best finish of fifth, which he scored in his last race at the site last season while leading 102 laps. Gibbs had little practice time due to hitting the wall, so he placed low on the speed charts. As a result, his crew did repair his car for qualifying, and he will start right toward the middle of the pack. Fantasy players should like the fact that a JGR car, which dominated recent Bristol races with Denny Hamlin and Christopher Bell, has place differential upside this week. Ty was great during the Xfinity Series races at Bristol and his last run in the Cup Series. Expect him to be a quality driver who should fight for a top-10 finish as long as his car can hold it together and not have technical issues similar to practice.
