Following a strong practice, Ty Gibbs qualified eighth for Saturday's Bass Pro Shop Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Although his performance on Friday was impressive, it's essential to consider how the reigning Xfinity Series champion has fared on short tracks at the Cup level. For instance, in his debut race on Bristol's concrete track last season, he had a DNF, losing 10 points in place differential in the process. Similarly, in the three short track races in 2023 (excluding Bristol Dirt), the second-generation racer is only averaging 28.43 points on DraftKings, which is well below what you would need for him to value at his $7,900 salary.
