Trey Lipscomb Hits First Big-League Homer
9 months agoWashington Nationals rookie infielder Trey Lipscomb went 2-for-3 with his first major-league home run, a walk and two runs scored in Sunday's walk-off loss to the Cincinnati Reds. Lipscomb was called up over the weekend for the first time to help replace Nick Senzel, who broke his thumb before Opening Day, and he's quickly made an impression for the Nats while going 3-for-7 with a homer, RBI, stolen base and two runs scored in his first two major-league contests. Many folks believed that the 23-year-old deserved to make the team's Opening Day roster after his hot spring training performance, so if Lipscomb continues to hit, he could see most of the playing time at the hot corner in D.C. over Ildemaro Vargas while Senzel is sidelined with a broken thumb.
