Trey Benson 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook: Does Benson See More Touches In Year 2?
Trey Benson's rookie season. He didn't command a lot of touches and seemed hesitant and indecisive as a rusher whenever he was on the field. The Cardinals felt similarly and leaned heavily on veteran James Conner, who set new career highs in carries and rushing yards in 2024. Arizona even went as far as to sign Conner to a two-year contract extension last November. Unless Conner is injured or experiences a dip in production, Benson will likely be relegated to RB2 duties this season. Conner does enter the 2025 season at 30 years old and has a history of injuries. Benson could emerge as an RB2 play if he gets an extended run as the starter. It was a good sign for Benson that Arizona didn't add a running back in the NFL Draft, but he's still clearly behind Conner on the depth chart. However, given Conner's age and injury history, Benson might be worth gambling on with a late-round pick.
