Trevor Story Expects To Play In 2023
2 years agoBoston Red Sox middle infielder Trevor Story (elbow) said he should be able to play at some point in 2023. "Yeah. Oh yeah. In my mind, yeah," Story said when asked whether he'll play this season. The 30-year-old had an internal bracing procedure on the UCL in his right elbow last week and will not be ready for the start of the 2023 campaign. Typical recovery time from this procedure is around four to six months. Boston was planning to have Story be their starting shortstop this year with Xander Bogaerts now in San Diego, but now they're planning to use Enrique Hernandez at the 6 and Christian Arroyo at second to begin the season. RotoBaller currently has Story listed outside the top-50 middle infielders for 2023. He struggled to stay healthy in his first year in Beantown in 2022 and hit .238/.303/.434 with a .737 OPS, 16 homers, 66 RBI, 53 runs and 13 stolen bases in 396 plate appearances.
