7 years agoColorado Rockies catcher Tom Murphy is in a bad situation, and he's not showing any real signs of getting out of it for now. Once pegged as the team's catcher of the future, Murphy caught a terrible break last spring by suffering a hand fracture that wasted his season. Now, with the team re-signing Chris Iannetta, Murphy needs to take advantage of the lower-level pitching to show he's ready to get back to the big dance. Unfortunately, he's not really doing that this spring. He's got two homers, which is solid and tantalizing, but he's also batting just .125 and striking out far too much. Murphy is still likely to be in the running if Iannetta falls flat or gets hurt, but he's not a person of interest for most fantasy owners at this point.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
