Titans, Derrick Henry Have Had Positive Contract Talks
5 years agoTennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson said that he's had positive talks with running back Derrick Henry's representatives over the last two weeks. The two sides have until the deadline of July 15. If Henry can't reach a long-term deal, he'll make $10.2 million on the franchise tag. The 26-year-old bruising back has a ton of value as the Titans workhorse in a run-first offense, especially after he led the league in 2019 with 303 carries for 1,540 yards and 16 touchdowns. Because of the phenomenal season he had last year, Henry will be a first-round fantasy pick as a top-10 RB1, but he could be volatile on a week-to-week basis because of his lack of involvement in the passing game and with the Titans potentially trying to ease his overall workload.
