The Tennessee Titans announced on Friday that they will promote outside linebackers coach Shane Bowen to defensive coordinator. The Titans also announced that they promoted Luke Steckel to tight ends coach, Ryan Crow to outside linebackers coach and Matt Edwards to assistant special teams coach. The Titans also hired Kenechi Udeze as assistant defensive line coach. Bowen called the defensive plays during the 2020 season when the Titans didn't officially have a defensive coordinator on staff. Tennessee ranked 28th in total defense (398.3 yards allowed per game) and 24th in scoring defense (27.4 points per game), which was the weak link in an otherwise strong season for the Titans. The team can continue to build around defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons and All-Pro safety Kevin Byard, but they'll need help around them to take the next step.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
