The Detroit Tigers signed right-hander Jose Urena to a one-year, $3.25 million deal on Wednesday night. Urena can make $250,000 in performance bonuses based on starts. The 29-year-old spent the last six years with the Marlins, going 32-46 with a 4.60 ERA in 142 games (98 starts). The shortened 2020 season was a rough one for him, as he went on the COVID-19 list in late July and made five starts in September before breaking his right forearm when he was hit by a line drive in his final outing. Urena finished the year 0-3 with a 5.40 ERA. The right-hander also had an ugly 5.79 K/9 and 5.01 BB/9 in his 23 1/3 innings after sporting a 6.12 K/9 and 3.14 BB/9 for his career. Urena could be a backup option for a young rotation, but he'll likely begin in a bullpen role and won't have much fantasy appeal at all.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
