The Detroit Tigers selected Rice shortstop Trei Cruz with the 73rd overall pick in the third round in the 2020 MLB draft on Thursday. They followed that up by taking Arizona State third baseman Gage Workman in the fourth round and Biloxi High School third baseman Colt Keith with their final pick in the fifth round. Detroit actually used all six of their picks in this year's shortened draft on bats. Cruz is the son of former big-leaguer Jose Cruz Jr. and is an outstanding all-around hitter who made the transition from second to short last year. Workman hit .330 with eight homers and 42 RBI in 2019 and started hot this spring. Keith was the Mississippi high school player of the year last spring and is considered one of the draft's top two-way players.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
