Texans Won't Shut Down Deshaun Watson
4 years agoHouston Texans interim head coach Romeo Crennel said that the team won't shut down quarterback Deshaun Watson for the final three games of the season after the club was eliminated from postseason contention last weekend. Watson is on pace to set career highs in completion percentage (68.9), passing yards per game (289.3), touchdown-to-interception ratio (25-6) and passer rating (109.4). However, he's also been sacked 39 times, third-most in the league. His 164 sacks in four years are the fourth-most in a player's first 51 games since 1970. Watson is facing a Colts Defense in Week 15 that sacked him five times in Week 13. He threw for 341 yards against them that week, though, and he will be getting running back David Johnson back from the COVID-19 list. Watson won't be as bad as he was last week in the blowout loss to Chicago, but he'll be more of a low-end QB1 in another tough draw.
