Texans Sign Jeff Driskel
4 years agoThe Houston Texans signed free-agent quarterback Jeff Driskel to a one-year deal worth up to $2.5 million on Wednesday, according to his agents. Driskel has been with four different teams in the last four seasons but has only made starts with the Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions and Denver Broncos in the last three years. Most recently, he appeared in three games (one start) for the Broncos in 2020, going 35-for-64 for 432 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. The 28-year-old will give the Texans some experience as a depth option alongside Tyrod Taylor, Ryan Finley and rookie Davis Mills as Deshaun Watson's legal issues play out. In a worst-case scenario in which Watson is traded or suspended, Taylor, Finley, Mills and Driskel would compete for the starting spot under center, which would be bad news for any of Houston's skill players on offense.
