Taylor Ward Could Hit Leadoff For Angels
2 years agoLos Angeles Angels manager Phil Nevin said on Monday that he's leaning toward having a lineup that features outfielder Taylor Ward at leadoff, with outfielder Mike Trout behind him at No. 2, designated hitter Shohei Ohtani at No. 3 and third baseman Anthony Rendon in the cleanup spot. Hitting first in front of Trout and Ohtani doesn't get much better. Ward didn't finish nearly as well as he started in 2022, ultimately winding up with a .281/.360/.473 slash line with a career-high .833 OPS, career-high 23 home runs, 65 RBI, 73 runs scored and five stolen bases in 135 games played. Durability could be in question for the 29-year-old outfielder, but he hits the ball hard and will be a regular as long as he's healthy, making him a very attractive mid-round outfield target in fantasy.
