Spencer Strider To Make Spring Debut Monday
2 years agoAtlanta Braves starting pitcher Spencer Strider will pitch two innings in his Grapefruit League debut on Monday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Strider missed the end of last season due to a strained oblique, but he hasn't had any ill effects in camp and should be ready to go for Opening Day in 2023, barring any setbacks. The 24-year-old was electric in his rookie season in 2022 for Atlanta, going 11-5 with a 2.67 ERA (1.83 FIP), 0.99 WHIP and 38.3 percent strikeout rate in 131 2/3 innings over 31 appearances (20 starts). While it might be unrealistic for fantasy managers to expect such a high strikeout rate for a second straight season, Strider has the makings of a fantasy ace if he can stay healthy.
